“Track 143” director making new film in Yazd

TEHRAN -- Narges Abyar, the director of the acclaimed drama “Track 143”, is making her new film entitled “Breathe” in the central Iranian city of Yazd.
Shooting of the film began in the Shahedieh neighborhood of the city on Monday, the director of the Yazd branch of the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, Ahmad Ebrahimi, told the Persian service of IRNA.The foundation is one of the sponsors of the film, which will be about children killed during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.
The story of the film is about a family in Yazd during years between 1979 and 1983. Parts of the film will also be shot in Tehran and Shahrud.
Abyar, who is also a writer, is making the film based on her unpublished novel of the same name.
Mehran Ahmadi, Gelareh Abbasi, Siamal Safari, Pantea Panahiha and Mohammadreza Shirkhanlu are the leading members of the cast.
Abyar’s previous film “Track 143”, about the great maternal sacrifice during the Iran-Iraq war, is also based on her book of the same name.
The film was widely acclaimed at the 32nd Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran in February 2014.
Merila Zarei won a Crystal Simorgh for Best Actress at the festival for her role in the film.
Abyar received the special jury prize and her film was selected as the Audience Favorite Film at the festival.
She made her debut film “Objects in Mirror” in 2012.
